百全律师联盟成员年会 : 2011年2月18-20日

二零一零年度百全律师联盟成员年会于二零一一年二月十九日上午十时在云南昆明由香港胡百全律师郑慕智律师主持召开, 并于同日下午五时圆满结束。

参加此次年会的成员主要来自香港、中山、南京、济南、成都、天津六家。会议上 , 各所将近年来在业务发展上取得的成绩向秘书处作了详细的汇报。随着中国大陆近年来在法律业务上的飞速发展 , 与会代表一致认为联盟应改变过往形式 , 建立一个相对宽松灵活的沟通交流机制 , 增加弹性 , 邀请更多的内地省市的律师同行加入到联盟 , 加强联盟各成员之间频繁的信息沟通和交流。使联盟更富成效 , 更有利于联盟现有成员以及更多境内外同行的沟通与合作 , 使联盟能够更有效的发挥其作用。各成员将本着联盟宗旨：优化素质，创新形象；巩固联合，互惠共赢的合作精神继续为客人提供优质的服务。

会议期间, 秘书处也为成员们安排了一些轻松的旅游行程。大家一起到昆明著名风景区“石林”和“九乡溶洞”参观游玩。原来, 成员中还有不少摄影爱好者呢! 最后一天, 大家兴致勃勃地带齐摄影器材前往观赏云南省省花: 山茶花, 以及数十种美不胜收的高山杜鹃花。同日下午, 成员们在一片欢乐的气氛中结束了此次富有成效的昆明年会。

一边畅饮叙旧, 真是回味无穷! .

Annual General Meeting and Training Seminar on Corporate Finance held in Tianjin

This year, the Annual General Meeting and Training Seminar on Corporate Finance were organized by Winners Law Firm on 22-23 February 2008 at Tianjin. All members from Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Jinan, Nanjing, Zhuhai, Kunming, and Shanghai, etc. attended this meeting.

On 22nd February 2008 morning, the training seminar was held at a local hotel in Tianjin. The Seminar Chairman was Mr. Li Hai Bo, Senior Partner of Winners Law Firm; the seminar started off with the Opening Address made by Mr. Moses Cheng, Chairman of Perfectus Alliance. The guest speaker was Mr. Patrick K.C. Yeung, Managing Director of Asian Capital (Corporate Finance) Limited. Mr. Yeung gave a very inspiring presentation on IPO in Hong Kong with vivid examples. In the afternoon, there was a special promotional seminar to the clients of Winners Law Firm and the speakers were Mr. Henry Lai, Managing Partner of P.C. Woo & Co., Prof. Han Liang of Nanhai University and Winners Law Firm and also government officials and experts on company listing.

On 23rd February 2008, Perfectus Alliance Annual General Meeting was held in the morning. Apart from the related discussions, strategic plannings and adoptions of proceedings, application and acceptance of five new members from Shanghai, Zhuhai, Kunming, Chengdu and Macao were also performed. In the same afternoon, another training seminar on the use of internal accounting software for a legal firm was made by Mr. Moses Cheng ; Mr. Li Hai Bo also demonstrated the computer system used by his firm.

Although all Members had a hectic time in Tianjin but they all agreed that the time was well spent as they had this good chance to know each other better and further.

Chairman of Perfectus Alliance - Mr. Moses Cheng conferred as Doctor of Laws

Chairman of Perfectus Alliance - Mr. Moses Cheng was conferred as Doctor of Laws, honoris causal from Hong Kong Baptist University to honour his outstanding academics as a community-builder at its 48th Commencement on 12th November 2007.

Mr. Moses Cheng is a senior partner of Messrs PC Woo & Co. A distinguished and well-respected figure in the Hong Kong community, Mr. Cheng has an impressive record of public service spanning a wide spectrum of community activities, including, among others, tertiary education, arts, social welfare, political reforms and taxation, as well as serving the Anglican Church. He was appointed a member of the Legislative Council from 1991 to 1995. During the past three decades, Mr. Cheng has chaired a number of high-level and influential government boards and committees, including the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund Board. Currently, he is a member of the Financial Reporting Council. Mr. Cheng's contributions to the education sector are most noteworthy. He was the chairman of the Board of Education from 1996 to 2003, and a member of the Education Commission from 1997 to 2006. Mr. Cheng was the Council and Court Chairman of Hong Kong Baptist University from 1997 to 2006. Under his advice and guidance, HKBU has made important strides in its development in the past decade, among which are the setting up of the School of Chinese Medicine, Academy of Visual Arts, Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University, United International College in Zhuhai, and the Hong Kong Baptist University Affiliated School Wong Kam Fai Secondary and Primary School. Mr. Cheng was made a Justice of the Peace in 1996 and awarded OBE and the Gold Bauhinia Star in 1997 and 2003 respectively. In 2003, he was conferred the Honorary University Fellowship award of The University of Hong Kong.

The 25th Anniversary Celebration & Annual General Meeting 2007 of IAPL in Hong Kong:

coming all the way to Hong Kong especially to attend the 25th Anniversary Celebration & Annual General Meeting of IAPL (International Association of Practising Lawyers). This celebration was organized by P. C. Woo & Co. and the meetings were held at this law firm's Conference Room.

After the sightseeing and official visit programmes, the seminar with theme "Doing Business in Europe and in Hong Kong" was held in the afternoon of 12th October 2007. The speakers included the three office bearers of IAPL and an invited guest - Mr. Tim Lui of PricewaterhouseCoopers and the topics were :-

Doing Business in Germany - Ms. Sabine Krumme
Doing Business with United Kingdom - Mr. Steven Porter
Doing Business in Hong Kong - Mr. Tim Lui

A Welcoming Dinner was hosted by P. C. Woo & Co. It was a real happy "the East meets the West" get-together fellowship dinner with sumptuous Shanghai food, fun and laughter in games, singing performances by the partners and staff. The highlight of the performance was that the IAPL members were selected to do instant Chinese calligraphy competition.

A more serious programme of IAPL Board Meeting and Annual Meeting was held at P.C. Woo & Co. on the next day with "dim-sum" for lunch in a Chinese Restaurant afterwards. Then the members were free for shopping in the afternoon, contributing to the economy of Hong Kong. In the evening, the 25th Anniversary Celebration Dinner was organised. Again, there were more fun and laughter with games and a wonderful performance by the students of The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts in Chinese musical instruments. It was a good demonstration of fellowship and friendship. Before midnight, the dinner ended after all singing "Auld Lang Syne" leaving with sweet memories of this 25th Celebration in Hong Kong and precious friendship!

Management Training Seminar in Hong Kong: 7th Sept 2007

The one-day Perfectus Alliance Management Training Seminar was held on 7th September 2007 at the Conference Room of P. C. Woo & Co. smoothly , with Ms. Josephine Ho, Partner of P. C. Woo & Co. as Moderator. It was an honour and pleasure to have Professor Simon S.M. Ho - Dean, School of Business; Director, Centre for Corporate Governance & Fin.Policy - Hong Kong Baptist University to speak on an interesting and inspiring topic: "Modernized Management – Back to the Basics". This was then followed by a keynote seminar "Managing Effectively your Modern Legal Practice" and the panel of speakers was: Prof. Simon Ho, Mr. Zhang Chi, Executive Committee Member of Perfectus Alliance and Mr. Moses Cheng, Chairman of Perfectus Alliance.

In the afternoon, Mr. Zhang Chi spoke on "Promotion and Development of Legal Practice" and then there was a group discussion and feedback report on "Added Value to Legal Practice". The general discussion on the enhancement of the Perfectus Alliance website was very fruitful with good suggestions from the participants. The dinner, as usual, was carried out in a joyful and friendly atmosphere in a private club with sumptuous food and memorable fellowship.

Promotion in Tianjin: 6th - 8th June 2007

Between 6th-8th June, China International Private Equity Forum, which was co-organised by Tianjin Municipal Government, China Federation of Industry and Commerce and American Corporate Growth (ACG), took place in Tianjin Bin Hai International Convention Center. Winners Law Firm – one of the Executive Committee Members of Perfectus Alliance – through its promotional exhibition booth, did promotion for Perfectus Alliance as well.

Promotion in Hong Kong: 5th - 8th June 2007

On 5th to 8th June 2007 inclusive , the Hong Kong Law Society celebrated its 100th Anniversary and hosted the 20th Biennial LawAsia 2007 Conference at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong. P. C. Woo & Co. was one of the sponsors and exhibitors of this event to do promotion for its Firm and Perfectus Alliance as well.

Annual General Meeting & Training Seminar: Sanya, Hainan, 3rd - 4th March 2007

During the Annual General Meeting, it was resolved that we would promote Perfectus Alliance more internationally and focus more on corporate companies, banks and investment businesses.

Training Seminar on "Risk Management" was presented by Ms. A. Phua, Partner of P. C. Woo & Co. Solicitors and Notaries and her topic was on "Risk Management in Legal Field" while Mr. L. Lee, Independent Non-Executive Director of The Ming An (Holdings) Company Limited spoke on "Transfer of Risks".

After Lunch, several Members had to fly back home. It so happened that it was the Lantern Festival (15th of January in Lunar Year) on that day; after a sumptuous dinner, we all watched the spectacular fireworks.

The next Executive Committee meeting would be held as a telephone conference at the end of November 2006. It was resolved that the 2006 Annual General Meeting of Perfectus Alliance would be held after Christmas 2006 and before Lunar New Year (mid February 2007) at San Ya, Hainan, China. This meeting would be headed up by Mr. Zhang of Nanjing Topchoice Law Firm and assisted by Ms. Lam of P. C. Woo & Co., Hong Kong and Zhong Yuan Law Firm, Zhong Shan City, Guang Dong. A fixed date will be announced in due course.

After the meeting, many of the members had to rush back to their own cities while Mr. Dong of Shandong Zhong Cheng Ren He Law Firm, the organising Law Firm of our Training Seminar, took the remaining members for a tour to the Baimai Spring Garden and a sumptuous dinner afterwards.

Executive Committee Meeting: Jinan, Shan Dong - 27th August 2006

It was a successful and pleasant meeting with many constructive recommendations and suggestions. All Executive Committee Members were present with also observers from Sichuan Tian Run Hua Bang Law Firm and P. C. Woo & Co., Hong Kong attending.

At this meeting, all Executive Committee Members agreed to improve the contents of our Perfectus Alliance website to make it more informative, interesting and attractive. It was also suggested that joint efforts of the Perfectus Alliance Members would be made for future business development, etc.

Training Seminar: Jinan, Shan Dong - 26th August 2006

As per the request of the Executive Committee of the Perfectus Alliance, P. C. Woo & Co. conducted a training session for the Alliance members at the Conference Room, Shan Dong Zhong Cheng Ren He Law Firm (Eastern District Office) at Jinan, Shan Dong on Saturday afternoon, 26th August 2006. It was well attended.

The three topics covered were:

"True Partnership Structure – Hong Kong Law Firm Management" by Mr. Moses M. C. Cheng;

"Ethical Rules of Lawyers" by Ms. Emily Y. M. Lam; and

"Financial Management System" by Mr. Phoebus K. F. Chu

All the above presentations were very informative and all participants present were attentive and raised many questions. After the seminar, Shandong Zhong Cheng Ren He Law Firm hosted a dinner reception for all the members who came all the way from Chudu, Tienjin, Nanjing, Shanghai, Zhongshan, and Hong Kong, etc. It was a memorable and enjoyable evening with good fellowship and happy memories to share.
